Aside from being one of the most worshiped pop singers of this generation, Lady Gaga is now also the owner of a prestigious award known as a Golden Globe.
Anyone who doesn’t live under a rock will tell you that it’s an award given to only the finest actors in Hollywood. But there lies the problem: Lady Gaga is not an actor. She’s a dominating presence in the music industry, yes, but her acting credentials are less than stellar. We see now why there’s confusion amongst the viewers of the 2016 Golden Globe Awards. But let’s face it, that’s just how Lady Gaga is. She’s always been unpredictable. Who knew that she had the acting chops to take away the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television? No one – especially not when she had to fight against some veteran actresses such as Queen Latifah for “Bessie”, Kirsten Dunst for “Fargo”, Felicity Hoffman for “American Crime”, and Sarah Hay for “Flesh and Bone”. And yet there she was – shining onstage as always – as she delivered her heartfelt acceptance speech. Clutching the Golden Globe, Gaga said it was one of the best moments of her life.
She thanked the director of American Horror Story: Hotel, Ryan Murphy, who offered her the role in the first place. She then proceeded to thank the rest of the cast, dropping big names including Matt Bomer, Angela Bassett, Denis O’Hare, and Chloe Sevigny. Gaga says that they served as her inspiration, and that the way they worked hard on their roles allowed her to shine in her role as The Countess. The 29-year old singer serves as the central character for the horror anthology series’ fifth season, in which she is the owner of the infamous Hotel Cortez. Gaga further states that she could not have done it without them, comparing herself to a child when on set. It’s obvious that the singer wasn’t expecting to win the award. Her surprise was evident throughout her acceptance speech, in which she seemed to be holding back her tears. She even forgot to mention her fiancé, Chicago Fire actor Taylor Kinney.
However, the Applause singer did reveal an interesting fact about her career: she said she always wanted to be an actress, but music “worked out first.” She wrapped up her speech and walked down the stage like a champ. Despite her victory, a few people still raised their eyebrows over the decision, claiming that Lady Gaga didn’t deserve the award. Some even went as far as calling her acting performance “stiff.” But all those comments don’t matter anymore, because what really has everyone’s attention right now is Leonardo DiCaprio’s amusing reaction when Lady Gaga walked past him. As soon as her name is called, the camera shows Gaga making her way through the crowd. Leo is seen laughing in the background, but his expression quickly changes into what we can only describe as fear, when the singer walks by.
Not only is this expression rapidly becoming an internet meme, it is also the topic of many gossip articles circulating right now. Nobody knows for sure why DiCaprio looked so scared – and we might never find out. What we can only tell for sure is that we are all slightly scared of Lady Gaga… even the celebrities.
